I grew up in Prescott, Arizona, a once-picturesque Old West town right in the middle of the state. My youthful rebellion consisted of wearing thrift store clothes, listening to bootleg cassettes of the Birthday Party, attempting spectacular Siouxsie-worthy coiffures, and dropping out of expensive East Coast colleges. My mature rebellion consists of wearing some of the same thrift store clothes, listening to music recorded before World War II, and watching silent movies. My hair is no longer very interesting, but I finally made it through school. I live now in Oakland, California.
