QotD: School Sports
What were the sports or games you played in high school or college?

I had the good fortune to attend U.S. public schools in the golden years just after the passage of Title IX and just before ruinous Prop. 13-style tax cuts. This meant I had a lot of choice in school-sponsored sports, even if I wasn't especially capable, which was the case of my seven-odd years attempting to be a gymnast. No matter how diligent I was at practice, I never improved beyond mediocrity. Nadia Comaneci was safe from my rivalry.
I was a bit more capable as a runner. I started running middle-distance track in junior high, and added cross-country in high school. I wasn't competitive enough to continue at university level, but I enjoyed running 10K races as an adult, until a knee injury persuaded me to scale back on that activity.
